A Wedding Quilt and Vintage Embroidery

Hopscotch, Butterscotch

The wedding quilt for my friend's daughter is completed. I will leave for Lancaster on Friday and take this with me along with lots of other goodies I have made for the occasion. I loved this pattern of Bonnie Hunter's however the border did not add up right when I cut it according to the pattern. So I intervened and put a skinny inner border to compensate and cut the piano key border down to 6 inches so I could use the pieces I had already cut and sewn according to the pattern. No one will know but me!! I quilted it with an all over design of swirls and curls. I am getting addicted to the quilting part. It is so nice to make the quilt from start to finish.

I LOVE scrap quilts. They make me feel cozy and warm inside.

The quilt label turned out beautiful. I love embroidering my labels on my Viking Designer SE.

The shower I am attending has a "Spice" theme so I did lots of embroidery work on several vintage pieces for the bride. When I first met her mother over 20 years ago we had an immediate bond through cooking. Jet always wore an apron everytime she was in the kitchen. So this apron is for the new bride so she can follow in her mother's footsteps.

A vintage Hankie for display at the shower.

A set of monogramed napkins with vintage silver napkin rings found in an antique store in Arkansas.

These two "special" napkins are for the bride and groom's sweetheart table at the wedding.

This is the box that the napkin rings were in. Each individual wrapped in plastic. I just love a good find!!

The mother plans on displaying Family heirlooms at the shower such as old wedding dresses, etc. This embroidered towel will hang in the display area.

Last but not least I have a baby shower this weekend that I will miss because of my trip but I did manage to embroider a soft and cuddly blanket to go in the gift to the new mother.

Almost makes me yearn for cold weather again.....but then I think I will just enjoy the wonderful sunflowers while I can!! Hope you are enjoying your summer and doing things that make you happy!!

Thank you Lord for friends to share our lives with while we are here on this earth. Thank you for children and babies that grow up and start families of their own. Be with them and guide them in all they do. Thank you for the beauty in flowers and the detail that you created in this magnificient world around us. May we always be mindful of your greatness and your love for us. Thank you Lord!! AMEN!!

Happy Trails,

Mtn Mama
