Baking....For the Love of it or to Keep Warm??

Baking, Baking, Baking

Even though I haven't been blogging as much these past few months I have been busy in the kitchen baking. Most of the time it is for fun but lately it has been to stay warm. Here are some of the results of my baking efforts:

Mini Caramel Bundts drizzled with dark and white chocolate top with a Dove milk Chocolate heart

I made these for a leadership luncheon at Community Bible Study. There weren't any left over!!

Mini Banana Cream Pies. I love these small Emile Henry pie dishes. I have had them for several years but just started using them. They make the perfect pie to "share".

Lots of cinnamon rolls have been made on cold snowy days this past month!

My new favorite bread for toast. I found this recipe on the King Arthur Flour website. It is the "original" Sullivan Street Bakery no knead bread. The method is a little different from Bread in 5 minutes a day. I love it for breakfast.

These are Oatmeal Raison Cookies made from Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery Cookbook. Recently on a trip to Wine Country I got to go to the Bouchon Bakery and fell in love. I had ordered the cookbook almost 2 years ago but had never used it. Well....that is changing as we speak!! I am reading every page and trying to "up" my baking game. It is so much fun. As I bake I share and that makes all my friends very happy.

These cookies are crispy around the edges and soft in the middle. The first time I have weighed all my ingredients to specifications. I am learning about weighing vs measuring, how to "weigh" eggs, how to "pomelade" butter, all about butter and fat content.....there is so much to learn and I am literally eating it up!!!

Today I baked the Bouchon Bakery's Chocolate Chip Cookies. First time I had ever added molasses to CC cookies. It really adds a layer of depth to the brown sugar that we are used to in CCC's.

Not much difference in the look of the dough but I tell you the cookies are fabulous. Crisp around the edges and soft in the middle. Seems to be a theme with Bouchon Bakery cookies.

I WILL be making these again and I will take all the pictures and share.

Thanks for stopping by... stay warm ( as I type this under my electric blanket on high!!)....Spring will come!!!

Happy Trails,

Mtn Mama

  1. I should have waited until after breakfast to look at your blog. The bundt cakes look so yummy, well everything does. Eating oatmeal cookies with my coffee this morning.
