Ice, Ice Baby!!!

 IT'S SNOW I LOVE!!!!  ICE I HATE!!!

I also LOVE this little girl who is riding her mother and Auntie KK's wooden horse.  YES.....I saved it all these years for such a time as this and I love watching her ride it!!
We braced for the worst in Tulsa, OK today and thankfully we only got about a quarter of an inch of ice and sleet.  We are suppose to get 3-5 inches of snow on top of that tonight.  I am hoping so!!!  Nothing like snow to get you in the Christmas spirit!!

My classes today and tomorrow were canceled so I have the wonderful fortune of staying home and getting lots done for the holidays.  I wrapped and finished projects all day.  It was wonderful!!!
My parents are visiting from WV.  They are 85 and in great health.  It is nice having them here.   Mother and I both sewed this afternoon while Dad kept a watchful eye on the weather.

I finished a flannel quilt for my brother for Christmas today complete with label.
Mother pieced the top and I did the quilting, binding and label.

Isn't the snowflake border great?  Especially on a snowy day like today.

I try to label my quilts before gifting.  It doesn't always happen but I am happy this one has such a pretty label.

I also worked on monogramming Christmas stockings for my oldest daughter and her family today.  She bought these stockings after the holidays and I had a year to do them......well at least they are done now!!

The stockings did not have a cuff originally and the hanger was on the inside.  Very interesting design.

I made a cuff from the soft flannel left from my brother's quilt and embroidered it on my Designer SE Viking machine.  I just LOVE that machine.

I am happy with the finished product.  I also put names on three stockings for a friend today.
Tomorrow I hope for snow!!  I am soaking a pound of navy beans to make white bean soup.  Life is good and full!!

Holiday Luncheon

Today was our Christmas Lunch for the Tulsa Community Bible Study Leadership.  I helped with the menu and putting it all together.  We had a wonderful time and the food was good too!!

Leadership Luncheon Menu: Dec 5, 2013

Funeral Sandwiches (Hot Ham and Cheese in a wonderful sweet/spicy sauce)
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Shrimp Dip and crackers
Veggie Tray
Happy Birthday Jesus Chocolate Cake

Peppermint bark and Assorted Candy bowls

The shrimp dip was a big hit and so EASY to make. I will share the recipe with you first:

Shrimp Dip

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups baby shrimp (I used frozen but you can use canned also)
1 cup mayo
2 pkg cream cheese (8 ounce block)
2 tsp spicy brown mustard
5 green onions diced with tops
3 dashes Tabasco Sauce

I use frozen shrimp.  Completely thaw before making the dip.  You can use canned shrimp in you prefer.

Be sure the cream cheese is at room temperature. This makes a big difference in consistency when mixing the dip all together.

Directions:
1.  Place Shrimp in bowl of food processor and pulse 2 times.

2.  Dice the green onions- using both the green and the white parts.

3.  Add the onions, room temperature cream cheese, mustard and mayo to the shrimp in the food processor.

I like to use Canola Mayonnaise.  Lower in fat and calories.  Tastes great in dips.

4.  Add Tabasco dashes to taste.  I use about three.

5.   Pulse until smooth or desired consistency.  Some may like it a little chunkier.  Mine has some bit of shrimp in it....medium consistency I would say.

6.  Put in serving dish.  Cover and chill.

This recipe makes a LOT.  Most of the time I cut it in half.  It will last several days (2-3) in the fridge and can be used as a spread on sandwiches too.  I like to serve this with buttery crackers.

Hope you are finding time during this busy season to share with others and enjoy family and friends.
