These are a few cookbooks from my collection.
I just love snowmen. I am leaving these guys out for January!! Who know???....we MAY get some snow here in Oklahoma!!
And yes those are cookbooks on the top shelf!! What can I say? I LOVE my books.
On with the challenge.....my daughters have challenged me to USE my books for more than wall cover. Now mind you I cook all the time but there are many books in my collection I have never used. I have never admitted to that before!!! This year I am going to start with the goal of actually putting the books to use. This is what I have carefully thought through and come up with as a way that I can expand my cooking horizons as well as make use of my rather extensive collection. I will choose a cookbook a week (52 in a year....I CAN do simple math!!) and feature it on FOOD FOR FRIDAYS. I will select a recipe from that book and show you step by step how I prepared it. You can then repeat and make the same recipe that I did or if you have access to the featured book you can make a recipe from within it of your choice and share it with me. During that week I will than be free to show other recipes from that cookbook or any tried and true favorite that I may be whipping up. If I have enough interest I will set up a linky party (If some techy blogger out there will help me...please!! I am a novice at this stuff but willing to try.) Then we can show off our finished products and share. That's what makes it fun...the sharing. I hope you will join me in moving out of our culinary comfort zones into trying new things for our menus in 2013. I may even create a button (HELP...again!!) so we can have our own logo!! I am excited to share and to meet new friends!! Tomorrow is the starting Friday!!! If this is a success it will probably only take me 10 years to get through all my books!!!
Today I am going to work really hard to finish the "Holy Toledo" quilt top that I have been working on since April. I only have the top sashing to attach and then the borders. I have the borders made and ready to sew on so it should go pretty quickly. This quilt is going to be mine. It will always remind me of Jeffrey. I started this before his bone marrow failed in late April. It will be a warm hug from him each time I wrap up in it. I will always LOVE you dear!!
I LOVE shirting plaids and colors. And yes it was made from Thrift Store Shirts. I ordered the backing fabric from Connecting Threads and it should be here today or tomorrow. This project is on my January....Get it Done List...I am trying.
Off to pick a cookbook and get ready for tomorrow's FOOD FOR FRIDAYS. I can't wait. Let me know if you will be joining me too!!
Howdy! Quick question that's entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my apple iphone. I'm trying to find
ReplyDeletea theme or plugin that might be able to correct this problem.
