HOLY TOLEDO!!!

Friday Finishes- HOLY TOLEDO - It is finally Finished!!

I promise this is the last time this quilt will be on my blog.  It has been a work in progress for a LONG time.
I started this last spring before Jeffrey got critically ill so it has lots of bittersweet memories associated with it.  I am SO glad to finish it.  Now I can move on with other projects.

I LOVE the border on this quilt.  Of course this is Bonnie Hunter's design.  I found her last year while surfing the web by Jeff's bedside.  What a find!!!  LOVE her scrappy, pieced, recycled quilts.  There may be another one in my future very soon.  But first I have to make two baby boy quilts!!
I quilted this on "Miss Lizzie".  I am learning.  The more I do the better I hope to get but for now I am very proud of myself.

I quilted this free motion by outlining each large half square triangle with wavy lines.  The rest was meandered.

I stitched in the ditch on the inner and outer lines of the blue sashing.

I did a small wavy line down the center of the border half square triangles.

I am linking up today with Link a Finish Friday, Confessions of a Fabric Addict, and Crazy Mom Quilts.  Hop on over and check out all the beautiful finished projects.
Think I will cozy up with this tonight and read a book......after I work on those baby boy quilts this afternoon!!   This is MY quilt!!

Happy Trails,
 Mtn Mama

  2. What a gorgeous quilt! I really want to do this, maybe as a leader and ender project? I've promised myself that I won't start new things until I finish some, but this is sooo tempting!

  5. Just wondering how you dealt with all the seams. Did you get them to nest? I had a bunch of blocks for a quilt like this but couldn't get them stitched together so they would lie flat. I ended up cheating and used sashing. This is the way mine turned out http://sewingoutofmycomfortzone.blogspot.com/2012/11/ufo-done-stash-report.html, but I like yours so much better!
