A Vintage Shower Event

Laurel's Bridal Shower.....A Vintage Extravaganza!!

Last weekend I had the privilege of helping with and attending a very special shower for my friend's daughter in Lancaster, PA. This shower was the most spectacular event. It started on Saturday as friends gathered to make 90 Tussy Mussies as favors for the guests along with the table arrangements.

These beautiful little arrangements were tucked into the napkins at each persons' seat. In preparation on Saturday we gathered flowers from many of the neighbors gardens and worked in assembly line form getting the Tussy Mussies made.

A clever box created with a chicken wire top to set the completed Tussy Mussies in.

For the tables we made small arrangements that we grouped together on vintage doilies. We used a very special collection of Fenton Milk Glass vases that belonged to the bride's Great Aunt.

The bright colors of the flowers "popped" in the white vases.

They looked especially nice on vintage doilies on the tables.

Each table had an assortment of vintage plates that were used as "Chargers" for the glass salad plates that were used to serve the luncheon.

There was a platter of homemade zucchini and poppyseed bread on each table. It was so delicious and serve on vintage blue plates that belonged to the Mother of the Bride's grandmother.

The dessert table was comprised of desserts made from friends and family members and displayed on a beautiful crystal tower. There were mint bars, lemon bar, cupcakes made into "High Heeled Shoes", Carrot Cake cupcakes, ginger snaps, pizzelles, and truffles.

Aren't these High Heeled Shoes just darling? The cupcake inside was fresh strawberry....YUM!

The Mother of the Bride had collected Bridal gowns from many relatives, friends and centuries to combine with pictures and memorabilia for several lovely vignettes.

There were very carefully made vintage nametags.

The invitation invited you to bring a "spice" to help stock the bride's panty. What a great idea!!

The basket was for the spices and my quilt was displayed on the antique ironing board along with several pieces of the embroidery I had done for the shower.

It was a great day!! The lunch was tasty, the decor stupendous and the friends and family with which it was shared were priceless.

The happy bride, mother of the bride and her sisters on this special occasion!!! I was blessed to be a part of this wonderful celebration!!

Happy Trails,

Mtn Mama
